Harbin Electric Power Equipment Company Nuclear Power MES System Has Been Fully Switched into Operation
Recently, the nuclear power MES system of Harbin Electric Power Equipment Company has been fully switched into operation, achieving that work plan maintenance, tracking, and all other operations are based on MES. This is a key achievement of the company's independent research and development of information systems realizing a zero breakthrough. The full name of the nuclear power MES system is Nuclear Power Manufacturing Execution System. It is the smart brain or neural center in the nuclear power production workshop, specifically responsible for accurately and transparently implementing upper-level production plans into the actions of each process in the workshop. The full switch of the nuclear power MES system is an important measure for building a world-class nuclear main pump research and development base. Harbin Electric Power Equipment Company conducted an in-depth analysis of pain points such as insufficient cross-link plan coordination, constraints from material completeness, and weak refined process control...

In order to firmly safeguard the nuclear and radiation safety barrier in the capital region, the North China Regional Office of Nuclear and Radiation Safety Supervision of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (hereinafter referred to as the North China Supervision Office) recently carried out safety inspections of 4 key nuclear technology utilization units in the capital, including source-related units and radioisotope production units. The inspection team went deep into frontline workplaces such as radioisotope production lines and radioactive source storage warehouses, conducted on-site inspections of the operation of radiation safety protection facilities, and carried out key verification of the emergency supplies equipped by each unit and holiday duty arrangements, strictly and practically investigating various types of safety hazards. The North China Supervision Office required all units to further raise their political stance, always keep the string of safety taut, strengthen...

At the recently held 30th National Invention Exhibition · Belt and Road & BRICS Skills Development and Technology Innovation Competition, the project "Key Technologies for Brachytherapy Radiation Protection Materials and Series of Radiation Protection Products," jointly applied for by the Institute of Radiation Medicine, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (Radiology Institute), Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (Peking Union Medical College Hospital), and Tianjin Tianyi Keyuan Technology Co., Ltd. (Tianyi Keyuan), stood out from numerous competing projects and won the Gold Award by virtue of key technological breakthroughs in the field of medical radiation protection. The award-winning project focuses on the long-standing radiation protection pain points in the clinical frontline of interventional therapy and brachytherapy. Through cross-disciplinary collaborative research by the three parties of medicine, research, and enterprise, it has systematically developed a series of innovative product matrices covering scenarios such as occupational health protection for medical staff, protection of normal tissues during radiotherapy for tumor patients, and specialized protection for scar radiotherapy.

The BGCT-0824 medium-sized CT security inspection device and the BGCT-1050S large-sized CT security inspection device, independently developed by CGN Begood Technology Co., Ltd. (CGN Begood), have recently officially obtained the "Civil Aviation Administration of China Security Inspection Equipment Use License." The acquisition of this qualification marks that CGN Begood has officially entered the core field of civil aviation passenger checked baggage security inspection, achieving a key access breakthrough in the high-end equipment field of civil aviation aviation security. Both devices certified this time are X-ray computed tomography (CT) explosive detection security inspection devices for passenger checked baggage. Prior to certification, both models had successfully passed the full-process on-site rigorous qualification testing conducted by the Aviation Security Research Institute of the China Academy of Civil Aviation Science and Technology (CAST)...

Recently, the team of Ding Shiqian, associate professor in the Department of Physics at Tsinghua University, published important results online in the international academic journal Nature, announcing the successful development of a thorium-229 nuclear optical clock and the achievement of its stable operation. This work was completed independently in the same period as that of a European team, making China the first internationally to achieve operation of a thorium-229 nuclear optical clock, marking the successful extension of the time measurement standard from electronic transitions to nuclear transitions. It is understood that a nuclear optical clock uses the internal transition of the thorium-229 atomic nucleus as a time-frequency reference. Ding Shiqian, one of the corresponding authors of the paper, introduced that the pendulum of an old-fashioned wall clock swings about once per second, whereas a nuclear optical clock uses the beat of the atomic nucleus as its "pendulum," with a beat frequency of up to about 2 quadrillion times per second. Because the size of the atomic nucleus is only a few tens of thousandths of the electron cloud outside the nucleus...

GE HealthCare, the Chicago-based medical imaging and radiodiagnostics giant, has announced that it has entered into a definitive acquisition agreement to acquire radiopharmaceutical company Sofie Biosciences in an all-cash deal valued at $945 million from private equity firm Trilantic North America. The transaction is expected to complete all regulatory approvals and closing procedures by July 2027, and is expected to be accretive to GE HealthCare's revenue growth and adjusted earnings in the first full fiscal year following closing. Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Dulles, Virginia, Sofie Biosciences has built a broad radiopharmaceutical production and distribution network across the United States...

Recently, the press office of TU Wien (Vienna University of Technology) announced that a team of scientists from Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic has successfully developed the world's first nuclear clock based on the thorium-229 (chemical symbol ²²⁹Th) atomic nucleus. This nuclear clock possesses extremely high interference resistance and is capable of operating in a fully autonomous mode without external stabilization. The research team stated that, compared with traditional atomic clocks that operate using entire atoms, timekeeping using atomic nuclei can theoretically achieve higher measurement precision. Two years ago, they successfully controlled the transition process of the thorium-229 atomic nucleus for the first time, but to achieve extremely high-precision timekeeping, it was still necessary to solve the nuclear clock...

A research team from the Joint Institute for High Temperatures of the Russian Academy of Sciences (JIHT RAS / ОИВТ РАН) has achieved an important physics advance in the study of extreme high-temperature and high-pressure states: researchers have discovered a previously undescribed phase transition in cesium (Cesium) under dense plasma conditions, accompanied by a dramatic jump-like change in electrical conductivity. The study focuses on the microscopic physical behavior of matter at temperatures from 500 to 20,000 Kelvin (K) and pressures ranging from about 1 hectopascal (hPa) to several terapascals (TPa). Under such severe extreme conditions, interatomic distances are greatly compressed, matter undergoes multiple deep ionizations, and the traditional criteria for distinguishing solid, liquid, and gas states can no longer...
